She recalls the election of the Whitlam Government in 1972, the new focus on women's politics and the rallies held supporting the Campaign Against Nuclear Power. She recalls issues surrounding (Clive) Berghofer, a Toowoomba land developer, Councillor and later a National Party MP.
Terry Hogan discusses his involvement in the beginnings of the Smart State period, when he headed a policy development unit in the Premier's Department. He observes that the strategy began as a political slogan representing what the Beattie Government wanted to stand for. He notes that the Newman Government has gone through a similar branding exercise, albeit with more traditional economic objectives.
Mike Horan discusses his turn to politics and the difficulty of owning his dairy farm. He recalls being approached to run for the seat of Toowoomba by Clive Berghofer and joining the National Party.
