Joy Ardill discusses her involvement during the 1974 ALP Federal Conference, when she crossed Jack Egerton to arrange functions that involved outside guests such as Mt Isa Mines and the Commonwealth Bank who had an opportunity to lobby conference delegates. She states that this provided her with contacts that later became useful during the ALP reform push.
Bob Gleeson recalls the ALP events surrounding the 1964 Mount Isa strike, and a Newsletter issued by Egerton calling the AWU scabs. He discusses the ALP Disputes Tribunal when Egerton was seeking renewal of his ALP membership ticket after he had accepted a knighthood and his branch had refused him a new ticket. He relates that the Tribunal took no action and Egerton did not receive a new ticket.
George Britten describes the relationship between the Amalgamated Metal Workers Union and the Plumbers Union (PU) at his workplace in Mount Isa. He reflects on the difficulties of his role as a PU delegate from 1950 to 1951 and lack of union experience in the region.
